I’m engaged in a debate with a friend on when is a “reasonable” time to start eating dinner in the U.S. So as not to prejudice your thinking, I won’t indicate more at this point.
To help us inform this debate, please complete this 5-question, “Dinner Time” Survey. Also, please feel free to post any comments on this blog.
Thanks! We’ll post the results once known.

You need to add another question to your survey: “Do you have young children?” The answers to my questions would be much different if I didn’t have a kid.
I filled it out! I’m going to skew the results to the early side, because of my weird East Coast schedule.
Em: Yeah, I thought of that too late. I still think the answers will be relevant to the debate, upon which I’ll shed more light when I announce the survey results.
Bonka: Excellent. We may not have a statistically significant sample, so I’ll consider techniques — like throwing out outlying results — to normalize the data.
What if you don’t eat dinner?
Ah, good point. The survey can’t be modified at this point, so I can’t add “none of the above” choices. I suppose you can choose not to answer questions 1-2 and only answer questions 3-5. You could also leave feedback through these post comments. P.S. – You always have to be difficult, don’t you?
Until I moved to the US, I never knew anyone in the world ate dinner at 6pm, let alone 5pm!
Fortunately, New York seems to be in tune with the rest of the world
Can’t wait for the results!
I’d echo Shripriya’s comment (not the NY bit though, don’t really know much about that place), folks here in the US eat way way way way way way too early !
